2012 corn maze honors Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

The Restoration House Day at the maze scheduled for Oct. 28

KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Sept. 20, 2012 — The Restoration House of Tennessee is included in some seasonal family fun at the famed Corn Maze at Oakes Farm in nearby Corryton, Tenn.  The 2012 Corn Maze at Oakes Farm is a celebration of the work of the television show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (EM:HE), and the centerpiece of the 2012 maze is the EM:HE logo as well as a silhouette of the home of Daniel and Mandy Watson, co-founders of The Restoration House.  EM:HE selected the Watson family as the Knoxville beneficiary of the build.  The owners of the Oakes Farm wanted to say thanks not only for the build EM:HE did in Knoxville earlier this year, but also for the many projects they did across America over the years.

“We are thrilled to be included in the 2012 Oakes Farm corn maze,” said Daniel Watson, executive director of The Restoration House.  “We certainly join the Oakes family in thanking Extreme Makeover: Home Edition for the incredible work they have done throughout the years. As their program often states, they change the lives of many people and they certainly did that for us.  The “door knock” that changed our lives has impacted not only our immediate family, but also the families journeying through our program who live in the two cottages built by EM:HE. We are forever thankful for Extreme Makeover’s generosity and for the Oakes family for putting a fun spotlight on EM:HE’s immense work.”

The maze opens for the season this weekend (Sept. 22) and Oct. 28 is being highlighted as Restoration House Day, where a portion of the proceeds will benefit The Restoration

Four Extreme Makeover: Home Edition specials will be airing this holiday season, including the episode filmed in Knoxville.House.  For prices and hours for the 2012 Corn Maze at Oakes Farm, visit oakesfarm.com.
